Elbow Dysplasia
Elbow dysplasia is an umbrella term that refers to conditions in which the three bones of the elbow joint (the radius, ulna, and humerus) do not fit together perfectly. There are several conditions that come under the term elbow dysplasia, however they all refer to slightly different abnomalities in the joint. It is possible that more than one of these conditions can be present in the elbow joint at the same time. The conditions that we see are: fragemented medial coronoid process (FCP), osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), ununited anconael process (UAP), and medial compartment disease.
These are typically managed surgically, and then hydrotherapy or some form of physiotherapy are generally recommended to rebuild the muscle lost on the affected limb, and reduce its lameness and stiffness for better recovery.
